Is that from a true expert with knowledge from lab testing and education from research or an opinion because your state is restrictive? I have used adapters with no problems on older RWD GM cars and put them through Hell with no adapter problems.

As I have little to no education on this subject, all i have understood from researching lately is that with fwd and large offsets stock, if i add adapters, my wheels will be moved farther from the vehicle. Somwhere around an inch. I think that this in addition to any wheel width increase will place my tires outside the fenders. Moreover, the increase leverage on the lugs is generally a bad idea (although not Garranteed to cause any problem whatsoever). The 5x110 bolt diameter severely limts my wheel choices in 19,20inch sizes +40offset. Anyone have an solutions? Wheel suggestions? I think I have seen most of the users here wheel types with 20inchers.

So tell me/us about anyone you know of actually using a 20" tire/wheel, what size tire went on their HHR and what they had to do to make them fit, if anything. Thnx! ....also, I think I remember my adapters were less than 1" thick.....more like 1/2" or 5/8".
