09 Radio With Factory USB Port
I have the 09 LT which has the USB port.
I have a Samsung P2 player which will only play through the RCA jack but naturally you don't get the cd info or have control with your raido controls.
I like to play my songs from A to Z(all 2025 of them) rather than an entire cd all the way through.
I also have all my 170 cds on two 4gb PNY mini thumbdrives. When playing them on shuffle it dosen't do a very good job in that it will play from about 6 or 8 cds while there are 75 or so cds on each thumbdrive.
My question is there anybody out there who uses some gereration of the Ipod and does it let you play your songs from A to Z or does the installed unit take over as the default controller an act like mine and only let you play each cd, shuffle a cd or shuffle the entire selection on the Ipod better than my P2's limited shuffle?

Personally, an MP3 device like an iPod would do a hell of a lot more than trying to get the radio to control anything anyways. I'd say if you want the ability to choose your song order/shuffle easily, get an iPod. Any generation will do, but I love my iTouch 32gb.

Finally found a solution to my problem with not having a good shuffle results when playing from a USB drive.
Instead of loading all the cds on the USB I copied each folders songs into a folder on my harddrive then wiped the USB drive and reloaded them from the folder.
The listing is now all the #1 songs from the 80 or so cds or listed then all the #2 songs and so forth through the entire list of songs from the folder.
The first time I tried this I left the HHR radio on Shuffle and should have set it to play straight through each cd or song, whatever the case.
Now it will play all the #1s then start on the #2s. This gives me at least 80 or so songs from different artists then it starts over with the first artist's second song from the first cd and so on and so forth.
PS=Now have 1100 songs on 2 4GB Pny Mini drive. That is about 110 hours total of no repeats.

After getting my songs to play like I wanted them I just had a problem today with the USB.
I was listening to a song and decided to skip to the next song and used the up arrow on the steering wheel and the USB quick working and gave the No CD--No USB---No Aux avialable. I went by the Chevy dealer to see if they had had any problmes and of course he said no.
When I got back in the car and restarted the USB drive started playing again.
I decided to see if I could duplicate the problem by pushed the up arrow on the steering wheel and it locked up again with the same message.
Shut the car off and got it working again. I guess I will use the F/F if I decide to skip a song again and forget about the up botton.

I went out and turned the radio on and everthing is now working as it should.
I can use the up/down button to advance or back up on the tracks.
I hold it in like you suggested it will go to the tracks listings and highlight where I am at in the 1100 songs which pushing the folder button does also.
Maybe it will continue working as such.
Thinks for the info.
