2006 LT onstar and xm Q's

I just KNOW when I bought my 2006 HHR that the dealership (now an empty lot) told me the car was onstar and xm ready and all I had to do was bring it in and add it on if I chose to do so.

The current local Chevy dealer has no idea what I'm talking about.

Is there a secret decoder ring I need?

If you car is equipped with both of those, you will need to contact both companies and sign up for their service. It has nothing to do with your dealership anymore since the car is not brand new off the showroom floor. It does cost - Onstar $200 - 300 per year. XM costs depend on who you talk to but will probably run about $25 for 5 months. Neither of these are worth the cost for me. I just don't need either one.

Do you have a second small antenna on the back of the car?

I would interpet that as the car has the mirror for OnStar and that the radio is XM capable........hardware and wiring not included.

"I would interpret that as the car has the mirror for OnStar and that the radio is XM capable"

Or that the vehicle has a regular mirror and the base audio system, because technically, every HHR is OnStar and XM capable/ready if you're prepared to spend the money to install the requisite goodies.

Perhaps pbcanney can give us some more info so we can point in the right direction, by the way pbcanney.....Welcome to the group! Glad to have you here!

Dear pbcanney,

Please, private message me your VIN. I will be able to see the build sheet and search if you have the OnStar and XMRadio options.

Sincerely,
Michelle, Chevrolet Customer Service

If you have a cell phone why would you need this invasive service from onstar? I do not own any vehicles with it . I got rid of all ONSTAR vehicles.
