2009 radio, 2008 car

Looking over the forum I see that a later model radio can work in an older model car. Does anyone have experience with having their friendly Chevrolet dealer update the newer radio with the needed VIN data? Ballpark cost?

Thanks!

Kevin

About $35-$60 seems to be the going rate, and its really no big deal for the dealer to handle, if you bought your HHR there and have a good relationship with them...they might do it for nothing as a customer relations thing.

I can vouch for that. We have a 2010 radio in our 2006. We wanted the USB port which wasn't available in 06. No charge because the owner of the dealership that unlocked it for us is one of my brother in law's clients.

That's what I was hoping to hear.
Thanks for the fast response!
