Question aftermarket HU install

will it hurt the cars computer by just hard wiring up my stereo? I have went through numerous wiring harnesses and none of them are the right ones... i have a 08 2LT... the last harness i used put my vehicle in lock mode making it so i couldn't turn it over... i dont care about the chimes or turn signal sounds... can i just hardwire it and not even worry about the harness?? plz help me out...

Mine is hardwired in. I cut the factory harness for the constant and ground. I also spliced into the door speakers behind the deck. I ran a switched wire to the fuse box. I think, I may have ran the constant to fuse and spliced the switched. I would suggest grounding the HU at the same location as the amp in the back. I got to move mine from the front. I got a horrible buzz noise with my new radio coming from a bad ground. Also if you hafta run RCA's run them down the middle of the car if possible.

rca's work well on the passenger side also. moved mine to the passenger side because positive battery cable is on the drivers side in this car.

It shouldnt be that hard to find the wiring harness.. I just looked up on ebay and found the wiring harness and install kit for like 15.00. From what I understand, there are only two kinds of systems in our hhr, regular nonamplified and premuim, I could be wronge though about the two types.

i essentially spliced in an amp inbetween the HU and the door speakers right behind the HU Im sure you could jsut splice in with a HU behind the connector back there.
