OK, this makes sense now--My sister's Tahoe has that little "fin" on the back.
So it seems that I have the capability for it, but need everything else to get it to work.

I'm wondering now if I was supposed to have it free for 3 months, that it should have had the little box already...time to call my dealer!

Thanks all for your help!

I have a 08 HHR with OnStar. Apparently the OnStar comes through the front radio antenna. I do not have XM, but I have the antenna base on the rear of the roof, but no antenna.

I forgot did you purchase new? if so look for this on your window sticker. see below it is right above the government safety ratings (yours might be in a diffrent spot depends on how many options you have)

or you can also check your door jamb sticker for these codes:
UE1 = On*Star
U2K = XM Satellite Radio

I have an 06 with Onstar no XM and I have the small "fin" antenna on the back like JX3. I think they just make the antenna operate both when you have both so you don't have 3 on your car.

it is Xm ready but does not have the Xm tuner installed You can get it at your chevy dealer parts dept. should be part # 17800594 XM radio you can also buy on line at gmpartsdirect.com for $190.25 + shipping. Go to accessories and type in your vehicle.It will give you a list part should be at the bottom of the list. Your local dealer should give the same price. The antenna is the Factory one [requires holes to be driiled in the roof. see my post at XM radio solution for all.

If the radio is XM ready is the wiring harness already installed in the vehicle or must that be purchased also? I realize that the antenna must be installed. Would appreciate some detailed feedback.
Thanx Keith
