Aux plug-in broken??

Hi there!! I am new to this site, but it has helped me with my (infamous) "clunking" issue so I'd figure I give it a shot with what you guys think is going on with my aux plug in...

I have a 2011 LT with no issues other than the "clunking" noise, which I got my axel washers replaced...But now when I plug in my aux cable cord in the aux plug in, the music will be unbalanced and sound static-y or cut off completely.

I have ruled out the obvious: it is not the cord because I have tried serval new ones and both ends of the cords are completely plugged into each the stereo and my phone.

Is this an issue with the factory stereos? I made an appointment with my dealership to check it out, but since I am no longer under my bumper-to-bumper warranty, I want to make sure it's not something serious where I need a whole new stereo.

Any info would be appreciated!

I had the same problem. The aux input is not separate on its own. The radio can be removed and a new aux has to be soldered onto the circuit. That's what my dealer told me anyway. I ended up just getting an aftermarket radio

Thanks for the input (get it, get it??) swerv0428!!

May I ask how much the total was for the stereo? Do you recommend the dealer ordering a new stereo or looking online for something??

I was hoping that I could run a can of dust cleaner or something in the aux plug in!! lol

I got the input joke. Took a minute though.

Well all cases can be different. Ill tell you what I did until I had the money for a new radio. I rolled up a piece of a paper towel. Twist it up into a point and wedge it in with the aux cable. It held it tighter and worked.

Here's a link to some factory radios. I paid almost 400 for mine but it's not factory.

Does your radio have the USB plug in as well or just the aux input?

MeijerLPO, I have bought two different "monster" cords, but it still does the same thing. I have even started un plugging the cord when I am not using it because all I do is listen to pandora on my phone.

Swerve 0428, the paper towel idea sounds like something I would do. Hahaha. I think I rather do that than spending money on a new radio.

I wish I could just replace the plug in the entire system!

Lol it worked for me for a temporary fix. Give your dealer a call or call like best buy. I was told its not really fixable and cheaper to buy a new or used radio. I would double check though. Everytime you talk to someone they tell you something different.
