Even though I'm not going that route, I'd like to see the how-to. I used to build speaker boxes in the seventies for our band and learned tuning port theory, long throw Vs Short throw, air free resonance, and a whole pile of things they just throw out the window these days

I will do up our HHR's tunes in time, but always want stealth, no show on the sound system. Plus I need our room since we use it a lot for stuff like getting our friends their pool steps today ( folded down the entire back and needed all the room). Who needs that minivan I just bought
But all DIY threads are important to someone, so if you can manage, it would be a good addition to the forum like yer speaker one wuz

Capt. I can always use knowledge so if you want to share, I will store the knowledge and use it if the need ever arises...I am interesed in learning more about suwoofers and amps, so having knowledge of boxes goes hand in hand...Cool!

It looks like there is enough interest. I cut the MDF this morning with the exception of cutting the holes for the speakers. Unfortunately I have to go to a wedding soon so I won't be able to finish up until later. I'll take pics along the way and write up a how to soon after. I can't say it enough............MDF dust is F'n nasty!

I like my 12's to thump, but I really enjoy the clarity.

That's the idea. The other advantage other than the obvious second sub is that I can push my amp harder. The Sonys I have only have a single 4 OHM voice coil so I've been running my amp at 4 OHMs. Now by adding a second sub I can wire them parallel for a two OHM load pushing more wattage out of my amp. :D

I got a good deal of it done today and of course I've been taking pics along the way. Expect the full how to in a couple of days.

I'm getting there. I got sidetracked with one of our A/C units going out of a 95 degree day. Cooling the wife and kids took priority over making myself go deaf. Anyways here is another teaser pic so fresh that the glue hasn't even dried yet.

I should have my box wrapped up by tomorrow or Thursday at the latest and the how to written by this weekend.
