EXACTLY - the rear vision on this car leaves a little to be desired compared to what I'm used to (and I can't imagine what a panel's like), and it's aggravating when you're in a parking space and have to back out into traffic - this camera increases your side vision 30-40 degrees at least, so when you view the camera (which comes on in reverse automatically), you can see traffic from the side LONG before they show up in your side or rear view mirrors...

This would be typical of what a panel driver deals with daily. Like I said any rear view would be an improvement. I try and avoid this situation but it still happens from time to time, I have had many close calls myself.

I always back in when I can. Those mirroirs are plenty big enough. I never turn around any more, I'm just continually going from mirroir to mirroir to mirroir. With the mirroirs angled in just past seeing the sides, the only blind spot is behind the bumper which is where you need the camera. That's the only reason I still back up slowly :-)

Ever since I bought a panel, I have noticed all the cars that like to park behind me. or in very close proximity, that I just can't see in the mirrors as I'm backing out. I need this mod! Also, for all the a$$holes that go speeding behind you as you are backing out of a parking spot, I'd like to put a loud back-up alarm.

The deck was pretty standard (used the right adaptor and steering wheel controller and put iPod in the upper glove box), but I wanted to do something different for the backup camera to make it a little stealthier. So, after dissassembling the third brake light and doing some measuring, I drilled out the brake light lens to accomodate the camera and kept it mounted INSIDE the tailgate rather than outside to accumulate road dirt. This way the camera can be cleared with one swipe of the wiper and it still provides a decent rear view (especially while driving).
VERY Nice !!!
now this I would do

I installed a camera on my Panel and am wondering how I was so lucky not to hit something before I installed it. Of course, my Panel has 5% tint on the frontsides and has a wall of woofers blocking any rearview. haha....I don't even have a rearview mirror. I have an Alpine, so I can simply call up "camera" as a visual source while listening to XM, Sirius, etc... and use it as a rearview mirror. I also over-rides during reverse as well.
