I'm too cheap to pay for free radio. My '06 has the 6CD player. I load it up with 6 CDs, set it for randomize, and have music all day. When I'm on the road, I'll switch around for local stations for some news or talk radio for a change of pace.

I just got a letter with a flyer from sirius xm and it is for 5 months for $20 with no activation fee for the everything package. I am not in the car all that often but that seems like a great deal. I am considering it if they will bill me rather than charge my card.

I am going to wait and call and tell them I am cancelling. If I get the $77 offer or some other offer I will take it. If not, I'll cancel and that's it. I think it's silly to play games with a large company. They should give good rates and have it over with.

I got a 2 year plan for $240 after taxes. Had an issue with the service, so they are giving me 6 more months free. So 30 months at $240 is $8.00 a month with taxes and all!

The important thing with XM is to ask about specials, and make sure you talk to a manager. The whole 27 different rates for the same service thing is a bit ridiculous, but I like playing the game with them, right now I have both HHR's and the home/office units(five total)for $5.99 a month for two years.

The big thing SS is to work your way up to a layer of XM personnel who are actually here versus the offshore call center people from who knows where. The kicker for me to get a good deal seemed to be the fact that two units are for my business, it elicited the an "oh" and the $5.99 a month deal.

Now Verizon on the other hand, do you remember that old movie The Boys From Brazil, I think that they use that to train their reps. Michelle handles them, that sweet and sexy French accent seems to work wonders, I know it does with me.

I just got a 50% discount on service for two radios for one year. I did have to go through three transfers and I think I wound up in Mexico or at least LA. "Cancel" is the magic word and if necessary, let it run out. They want us back so bad it's not like they will block our radios.

Frankly, I think they just can't offer the service to everyone at a cost effective price. They can cut some people a break, but not across the board.

I'd love to have XM in my HHR... I have the radio for it, but I don't have the hookup. I think it's like $200 for the dealer to install, but that's a lot. I'm not a fan of adding one like an aftermarket... I'd only want it if it was built into my radio like they come from the factory...
