Is the blinkers and door chimes all you lose if you don't use that adapter ? I heard headlights,air bags etc. depending who you ask.. on non premium sytem in a ls any truth to this ?

No, same old BS the best buy/circuit city types like to spread to sell the expensive harness.

So Would just a simple cheaper harness work and let me keep all the chimes and such?

You will still lose the chimes and blinker. They work off the radio circuit. I purchased my adapter from Crutchfield also. Got it for half price because I also bought a stereo from them. If you run across any problems they try very had to help you over the phone.

The best part about them is after having the unit for 11 months, I was installing an amp and accidentally blew up my Gmas-Lan adapter when I grounded out the amp turn on wire by mistake. Called Crutchfield to buy a new one and instead they replaced the bad one under warranty. (One year warranty, had only 10 days left on it.) They sent me a new one in 2 days and a UPS pickup for the bad one with absolutely no charge to me. Can't beat that!

This is what I did.

I ordered a radio from Crutchfield and got the harness for half price.

Then I found a better radio (from another source) and sent that one back to Crutchfield and only paid the half price.
