Question Double Din Touch Screen install help & advice

I was gifted a AVH-p3100dvd from my brother this afternoon as he switched out his touch screen HU for a full 7" touch screen. The issue is that it does not come complete and I am curious what other pieces are needed and any advice that you could give in purchasing the bracket, etc and install help.

Below are photos of the unit. All I was given were the HU & remote. Any links to the extra pieces I need via Amazon or Crutchfield would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time!

I would suggest finding a automobile stereo shop as they will know. Generally you need an antenna adapter, interface unit and from the looks of things the wire harnesses from Pioneer.

That HU has it's harness. It needs to be cleaned up a it but looks to be fully intact. I can see the red accessory wire, the yellow 12v, black ground and blue for the remote. I can also see the purple, white, green, and grey pairs for the speaker outs if you are not using aftermarket amps.

I am not sure if you have OnStar or not nor if your HHR is factory amplified but a kit like this one from eBay would contain the 3 dash items needed to get this HU installed. These are the module (this one is for non OnStar and non amped systems but this works for amplified cars too if you are not going to use the factory amp), the antenna adapter and the dash kit. If you look at the dash trim piece you will see the side pieces that snap into the front part. These will allow this trim piece to bolt onto your HU and then the whole thing can be bolted to the dash with the 4 factory bolts that the factory HU is bolted with. If you have OnStar you will need a different kit and it will cost a bit more but this is the jist of what to look for.

Thank you for the link and all of the help.

It is non-OnStar and I have the "Pioneer Premium" setup so I will just be connecting it to that. As the stock radio comes with two plugs into the back & this one has 1 I take it I will need to play around with the wiring?

Thanks again!

No need to play with the wiring. Just match up the wires from the new HU to the harness adapter/module. The adapter will have a few reds in it and possibly 2 or mre blacks but it will come with instuctions that tell you which of these to use for your car.

That one that I linked to is for the non amplified systems but if you contact that seller they might have the amplified version as well.
