Got my overhead in, it can be done!

Now that my SS is two weeks old I decided to do the overhead install this weekend. It's an Alpine PKG-RSE2 10.2" Overhead DVD Player. I was going to installl headrests but the kids didn't like the quality and the constant glares from the sun shining on the screens, so I opted for an overhead. I wanted good quality and widescreen so the Alpine fit the bill. Install took a little over 4 hours because I wanted to be careful of the sidebags and everything else. I still have a really good view through the rear mirror and it doesn't get in the way of my peripheral vision. Sound quality is awesome with the FM Modulator also.

My D3 package will be here Wednesday from Crutchfield with the included Ipod, and Bluetooth adapter. Hopefully I'll get that in this upcoming weekend!

Here's some pics for ya:

Got the D3 in now, bypass'd as well. I forgot to order and extra set of A/V cables so I can connect the overhead to the headunit. They should be here by Friday. So next weekend I get to take everything apart again.

Mounted the Sirius and Bluetooth unit behind the lower font vents. Fits perfectly:

Bluetooth mic on steering column (did I spell that right?):

That D3 looks amazing. How does it fit? It looks like it fits well. If you saw it for the first time would you think it was factory?

The fit was really snug and wouldn't go in all the way, so I had to break out the Dremel. You'll have to remove most of the rear of the stereo area to fit all the wairing harness' in there. No biggie, except vaccuming all the shavings out was a total pain in the, well you know.

One guy thought it was factory because I told him I got the Pioneer premium seven-speaker sound system. He really liked it, then I told him the truth. He was bummed but really liked the HHR overall. I don't see why they couldn't add a Nav system as an option.

I checked it out at Best Buy yesterday. Is there a way to adjust the touch screen sensitivity? Seemed like you had to press a little hard to get it to recognize the touch. Or I am just used to the iPhone where you barely touch it and it works.
