ive not heard of it but when similar devices lock up i just wait till the batteries die or unplug it for a day or two. then give it another try.

thanks,

they have some kind of update for it online at the manufactures site. if i can figure out how to load it. i wonder if that will fix it , or if i should keep waiting or it to fix itself ??? i've ran the battery up and down , and unpluged it , turned the gps on and off with the little switch it has on the back. i've done all this a few times.

I had that problem, just after I purchased a Magellan and used it on a vacation. It locked up in the middle of the vacation about 1000 miles from home. When I talked with Magellan they were aware of the problem and had a free update for it. So after running the battery down and recharging I connected to the website with a USB and updated the firmwear. Haven't had the problem again.

The update was easy by Magellan, and actually did all the "work" itself, after a couple of clicks.

Good luck.

When I was down in Indy a bit ago i had my tomtom with me, and realized the address i wanted was in in internal mem and not the SD card i was running. So i shut it down, popped the card out, turned it on and it freaked out. Went into the initial setup mode, couldn't get it to pick a map. it was screwed. Luckily i had an idea where i was going and how to get home... otherwise i would have been screwed. Took awhile for me to reset it with reinstalling the software in it. No idea what really happened, but I don't want it to happen again.
