How to setup your Bluetooth phone w/o using Onstar

So I called Chevy Owner Support. They walked me through the setup and it works now. It was pretty easy. On the steering wheel you press and hold the talk button for 2 secs until you get commands from the car and it guides you through setup. It gives you a PIN to id your phone. You can pair up to 10 phones on the system. After your'e done just press the disco button on the steering wheel, (the bottom button on the right side) and your finished.

Pretty cool, now I use the hands free app without using Onstar.

The phone list on the Chevy site is not complete. You have to call Chevy to find out if your phone is pairable with the feature. 800-222-1020 is the number.

I'm new to this OnStar stuff. I don't have the audio controls on the steering wheel. Can I still use the hands free??

GM says no. Other forums say yes, but you lose Onstar and warranty.

m 09 2LT has the controls on the steering wheel but I have the base radio IE no USB port. I tried holding the button for 2 seconds and never got the proper chime and "ready" as indicated int he owners manual. I guess I need the better radio?
