I-pod Interface From GM
#62
Hello,
Yesterday my PAL got stuck in "Seek" mode. This happen while listening to my iPod and I pushed the radio seek button a bit to long and I heard a "beep" and the radio displayed "scanning".
I went to the main menus and couldnt navigate or adjust any of the settings. No matter what button I chose in the CAT display it said "SEEK". DISPLAY SEEK.. LANGUAGE SEEK..
I read in the manual that anytime the seek button is pressed it will be out of iPod mode. But it didnt tell you how to put it back into iPod mode...ie..album, artist and playlist search.
It wasnt til I pressed the "i" on the radio and removed it from the CAT menu that it all performed as normal.
The PAL is slow to react to button inputs. The manual says it could be due to the amount of songs loaded on your iPod. But I fouind no differance between my 15GB with 3150 songs and my
4GB Nano with 420 songs. You also can not search for a song/artist in shuffle mode.

IPOD interface??
Ok, I know there is a thread already open on this topic, but I thought we could use a fresh thread.......
I have a few questions,
-has anyone installed it themselves?
-Is everyone using the GM supplied unit or another brand?
-Where is your cable (i.e. glove box etc.)
-Is it plug and pllay or is there soldering to be done?
-is there a certain factory head unit that is required?
Thanks

Yes, I installed mine in 2 hrs. You have to drill a hole for the iPod cable that gose threw your glove or top box. Remove the box to drill the hole
-Is everyone using the GM supplied unit or another brand?
GM OEM here.
-Where is your cable (i.e. glove box etc.)
I put my cable in the top box but cut the hole for it in the right side.
-Is it plug and play or is there soldering to be done?
basically you remove your radio. Unplug your harness. plug PAL harness in between. Drill hole for ipod connector. Hook cable to ipod and pal.
If you have XM you need to splice a wire to the radio and get it flashed at the dealer. If you do not. Its just plug-n-play.
-is there a certain factory head unit that is required?
Fatory instructions say you need a factory code radio US8 or US9 only. look at the sticker in your glove box for this.
