ipod touch mounting suggestions?

Does anyone have ideas/examples of where I can mount my touch?

Right now, I'm thinking I'm going to mount the apple universal dock ni the upper glovebox and just have it there. However, you can't close it with the touch in the dock...so I'd have to drive with it open all the time.

The problem with this idea is that the universal mount doest really hold the touch tight at all, and I'm afraid that bumps and general driving will/may cause damage to the bottom connector.

I don't like the metal side mounts that mount to the side of the radio.

It's got to be stealthy and no visible wires. (I have the composite a/v cable going into my in-dash dvd HU)

Any thoughts?

why do you have the entire universal dock in the upper glovebox? Why not just use a dock connector cable and plug it in to the bottom?

Didn't know if you were looking to have the audio and video both go into your HU but if you're looking for just audio i recommend this:

http://www.sik.com/imp.php

I had one hooked up to the back of my JVC unit in my previous vehicle. Worked great. You can then run the audio out to whatever you would like and just get an adapter if you don't want the 3.5mm stereo jack, i had an adapter on it to goto to RCA plugs which then went into the back of the HU. Plus then you could run the power cable to either a lighter port or install an extra one inside the dash and put a little switch for it to turn it on and off.

If you're interested in it, let me know, i might sell mine off sicne i don't think i'll be putting an new HU in the hhr and don't need all of this in the front.

But yeah if you want video too, i would just get one of the dock connector cables that splits into all 3 and use that. Skip the actual doc all together unless you can find a good way to support it.

Along with the SIK IMP on my jimmy i also custom built a full ipod dock into the console, molded it in to the car, and had it on a slight angle with a larger support area behind it to hold it up. I have pics somewhere of it. But like i said, probably not putting a new HU in this one or getting that involved with it. Took a lot of time to mold the last one.

I just plug the iPhone in, throw it in the upper glove box, close it, and forget about it.
