All in all, I've spent about $1000 on everything. It's a little more difficult then building a regular home PC, just because you have to hardwire power for the psu and there is a much longer run for cables. It's not hard at all, however.

On another note, I had some trouble installing the DVD drive. I miscalculated the size of the external case I got for the slim dvd drive, and it doesn't fit in either of the places I planned on putting it (center dash compartment, and glovebox). I've still gotta figure out where the hell I'm gonna put the DVD drive
The price is not bad compared to what the all the carputer is going to do for you. If you factor the price of a stereo, mp3 player, tv, etc. You're getting more bang for the buck with the carputer.

When you get a chance look inside the rear (e-brake area) part of the center console. It's only held in their with like 4 tabs and slides out. When I was installing my Sirius S50 I noticed that there is a lot of unused room in there (by the rear cig lighter).

I'm not hijacking the thread but I just had to say this.... :)

Computers now-a-days don't freeze up, it is Windows that freezes up the computer.

I never realized just how stable (and fast) today's PC's are until I started running Linux.

You know what I meant

WMP has frozen twice so far in the car...but I found a different method to play movies that won't cause it to freeze up like WMP does.

Looks very very nice. You will have to share all the info on how to do it, at some point. Ill be interested to see the custom mount (mostly cause i suck at that stuff.)

Right now the monitor mount is a little ghetto IMO.

I basically took a dash kit for the HHR (Metra 99-3302), and hacked off the brackets. Then, attached the brackets to the monitor, and put the monitor in. I lucked out since the monitor was almost the identical same size as the stock radio.

Like I've said, with some time, the monitor will be molded into a dash kit for a better, cleaner fit...when I get around to that I'll take plenty of pics :)

What are the true dims on the screen as you have it inthere now?

I may have a great hookup for us on screens, possibly even with the computer builtin.

How deep was the space behind the monitor?

Added XM today...

Gotta activate it...that's why it's showing preview on every channel...but when it's activated, it scrolls info on the top bar (title, artist, channel, etc.) and also has the channel icon up top as well.

:)

1.Is this part of the Road Runner software or did you have to install new software?

2.Instead of XM, is Sirius an option?

3. And last, is there a record button where you can save songs on your hard drive?

Thanx
