I've been doing installs for years and this thing first off doesn't weigh that much and is motorized. So there is no pulling it down. My write up is how I installed it. There are other option such as with plywood method. My write up atleast gives someone a point of reference where to begin. And I don't know about horrible install it looks extemely clean to me.

I wanted to add that I don't have kids nor would I let kids touch my screen. One reason why my install will be just fine.

It looks good to me, but I would also worry about the weight pulling down on the head liner. I added a map light to the front panal in front of my sunroof. The weight of it was pulling down on the panal, so I had to add screws to make it more secure. If possible, a little silicone glue would not hurt to help secure the mounting plate. Personally, I always use wood as an interface for mounting things. I just installed my amp on the back of the rear seats. (Photos will soon follow). The rigid piece of plastic easily comes off, and I was thinking about mounting the amp directly to it. But, instead I attached a piece of stained and poly'd plywood. Since it is a little bigger than necessary, I have room to install things like crossover, fuse block, etc.

But what would really concern me is your vision being blocked looking out the rear view mirror.

Looks good. One question, how did you get power up to the unit and off of what fuse ?

I ran my power wire down the driver side door pillar. The 12volt constant wire went straight to the battery, I grounded it right at the lower door pillar and ran the accessory wire to the fuse box with a add a circuit in slot #21.

The famous #21, I thought so. I'm beginning to think that we need to get Chevy to put in two or three more #21's

use heavy guage pink wire in the console for acc...fuse it

I tested the heavy guage wires in my console and they were all hot.

i used that wire for my deck and used it as a trigger for my alarm. i hand built a bypass module for my remote start with it.
