Pioneer AVIC D3 in HHR?

I have a brand new Pioneer AVIC D3 in my Avalanche and I am thinking of getting the '08 SS when it comes out. I went to Crutchfield today and it says it does not fit????
Has anyone on here added a AVIC D? of any type? If so how was the install?

Thanks
JV

It installs nicely. I had it professionally done. I don't think they cut too much at all (if any)

I put mine in my self. Real easy with the proper harness adapter and fit kit. No cutting needed. However it could be a bit easier if the back stop were cut a bit to fit things like an Ipod cable and/or any Pbus attachments.

Most of the time Crutchfields "doe`s not fit" tag applies to anything that does`NT jump out of the box and install itself. For a 10% discount with them enter code 3a106 in the appropriate area. There are some exceptions.

I will fit, I had a D2 in mine and changed it to a Z1. I my truck I have a Z1 and Crutchfield says it does not fit. In the hhr you might have to trim the plastic behind the radio depending on how many extras you install XM NAV TRAF, Bluetooth, and backup Cam. Look in my gallery and i have a pic of my install.

I think it says it will not fit is the depth but you can trim to make it fit.

I didn't install the Avic, although I'm thinking about getting one, but an alpine unit. With three RCA cables, Sirius adapter cable, I almost had to trim/grind all of the plastic that is in the back. There is just not enough room there for aftermarket head units.
