Rear Door Component Speakers?

Has anyone put component speakers in the two rear doors? The front of the car should not be that hard since it already has seperate midrange and tweeters. In my last car (an Acura CL) I had components stock and when I switched to a PolkMOMO setup I loved the clarity. Has anyone done this, or does anyone have any ideas?

Putting comps in the rear doors will mess up the imaging as the highs are more easily located by your ears. Unless you have a 5.1 surround system with time alignment, keep components up front, with maybe midbass or subs in the rear doors.

I couldnt agree more.. I have just my components up front and subs in the back. The clarity and ambience is just right. The only reason I'd use rear speakers is for a passenger in the back. Mine are not even hooked up. You really cant tell the difference. Just use good quality components up front and enjoy.

Since the rears are basically ful range, after sound deadening the doors they work more like a mid bass then anything...helps out the over all feel....and now use the rear fade to kick it back a notch when certain CD's are played

I don't like all the highs coming from the windshield and only lows behind me either. Why did GM put the tweeters in the A pillars point directly at each other and not in the door panels were they could have been angled toward the front seat passengers?

its called imaging.......if you dont stare at them and try to determine exactly where the sound comes from it will blend and actually all the sound will 'appear' to be in front of you as in a natural setting...how you have the tones selected have a big effect on the sounds too

I know what imaging is, and tweeters pointed at each other is not the way you get good imaging. Pro installers 20 years ago knew that. The average person today has ears spolied by surround sound. Components front and rear will create good imaging.

Subs - non directional
Mids - directional, but very forgiving
Highs - Extremely directional and most pleasing to the ear when pointed at the ears.

Creativity can bounce highs off objects to redirect sound toward the ears, but aiming at each other cancels out yours ears detection of difference between the left and right channels.
