Replacing factory head unit

Anyone here replaced the factory head unit with a nav/dvd player? I am looking at the Pioneer AVIC-F9 that will do nav and play dvds with a touchscreen but I was wondering if anyone else has done something similar yet? If so what do you think? Any tips on the install?

I am in the process of having that same unit installed as we speak. The installer has had my car since monday. He is also installing a Remote starter on it, since its a stick shift he is having some issues. However I will post pics and let you know the outcome and feedback when its completed.

Remote start on a stick? I imagine your installer is having some issues. I would like to know what he did. Clutch cut-out, nuetral sensor, emergency brake activated sensor?

I also have the stick shift and would like a remote start also, but figured it would be costly and/or dangerous to do.

"Remote start on a stick"
From what I know you have to hot wire the Clutch sensor so the car thinks the clutch is pushed in all the time.

Check out compustar.com. He took a while to get it installed but working fine. It has a specific shut down process in order for the remote start to work. Does not completely bypass the clutch sensor. If you dont do the shutdown process then the clutch is not bypassed. All you do is when parking, pull e-brake, nuetral and foot off clutch, foot off brake, turn key off (however the car keeps running), exit door and close it, when that is done properly the car shuts off and is now ready to start. If not try again! It was a pricey affair but worth it in my opinion.

Has anyone installed the JVC Arsenal KW-NX7000BT in their HHR? It seems to be a pretty sick head unit for the money. I started looking at it after I read about all the issues people have had with the AVIC head units on AVIC411.com. Also, has anyone figured out a way to put a 10" sub in the factory sub location? I would like a little more bump without having to lose cargo space in the back.
