whats the best cost effective way to add good sound deadner to all the doors and possibly rear hatch....

dynamat. none in the hhr yet. but had it in the truck and it worked pretty well

RAMmat is better and cheaper....go to the site and read it up..he did a comparrison on all the better deadeners.....

Im using Raamat in my HHR. I got a 50ft roll for 140 shipped. Its great stuff. Its a little on the thin side but it works good.

I have never seen either product but from the pictures to me it looks like "Ice Dam" a self stick roofing product. Is this generally the same thing or would it work the same?

In a roundabout way it could be in general the same. Sound deadening is an asphalt based product with the adhesive on one side. So generally yes same thing. The Raamat bein a thinner product is more pliable and easier to mold without a heat gun to conform to panels.

Dynamat is very expensive and not even the best out there.

asphalt based deadeners are good but still not the best.

Raamat is good stuff, I have used it in the past.

But the best by far I have ever used is Second Skin,
The damplifier Pro is a foil backed butyl based mat. it has score lines so that when you adhere it down and smotth it, air can escape from underneat. This allows for a perfectly bonded surface/

Butyl is not effected by heat. asphalt based deadeners can melt and become soft.

Second skin also makes a liquid that can be painted or sprayed on. Its good for tough areas to stick you arm into.

Rammat for sure , lots of it.. The HHR doors sound like a bucket of legos once you get some power into your system...
