Speaker Brackets

http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=10267

Is there anywhere else to buy these? Are they too new or something? Those Schosche rings are crap and I don't want to use those. I'd like to make something of my own if I can't find these brackets somewhere else, but don't know where to start. Any help? thanks!

Are you referring to the rings that came on the car? What problem are you having with them?

The rings that came on the car are one whole piece--speaker included. So, to change the speakers, I need some type of bracket to stick into the hole that is left after pulling it out. There is no way to disconnect the speaker from the bracket. I don't know if that's just an 07 LS thing or not, but it's really annoying. lol

So I'm going to Home Depot in search of some type of material to make my own. Hopefully that's possible.

Do you know what i'm talkin about now?

Thanks for the reply. :)

Wow-Sorry to hear about Chevy's 'upgrade' for the 07 HHR. Back in the 06 model, the speaker attaches to the plate with 4 screws, and the plate has 2 tabs to secure it on one side, then a bolt to lock it in on the other side. Much like the Schosche ring.

I guess we all know why GM is using a speaker/adapter combination. To make it hard for us to upgrade from their 'perfect' speakers

Speaker rings come with the seven speaker "premium" system only. Need to get the speaker rings if your HHR did not have the the seven speaker system. All 06's did not have factory speaker rings

Ooops-didnt know that. I had the premium system, even though nothing of it is left anymore I assumed all of the HHR's had the speaker rings. Makes sense in terms of ease of assembly, but I guess it is even cheaper to have the rings built into the speakers.

Just a thought here...if you order your new speakers from Crutchfield they used to include stuff like these rings and even adapters for the factory wiring if needed. Again just my

The HHR is Crutchfield's red-headed stepchild. They only give you the generic Scosche star-rings, no speaker harness is needed, and they don't have any vehicle-specific installation guides for the HHR.

To me, they've got to be the most overpriced place out there for what they give you on this car. They're selling Infinity's for 30% more than almost any other Infinity dealer right now. Shop around.

Yes, and as previous posts have stated, those Schosche rings aren't the right ones for the HHR(from Crutchfield). The first link in this thread are the right ones(for the 07 LS that is anyway). The 06 is different apparently(so maybe the Scosche rings fit in there). I just went and bought materials to make my own brackets. Unfortunately it's raining like nuts in MD so I have to wait til tomorrow.

Thanks for all your input guys.
