I have read the various threads, and it's a bit overwhelming. I want to replace speakers only, not the head unit. And I don't want to add an amp. I have ordered adapter rings and the wiring adapter/pigtail. I have wiring info so I can deal with polarity of the connections. I understand I need 6.5" speakers for both front and rear. After that is where I get confused. Front speakers are 4ohm, and it seems I should NOT get a 2-way speaker because of the factory, dash-mounted tweeter. Correct? As for the rear speakers, they are 8ohm, and it seems there I have options - I can either get an 8ohm version of whatever I use up front, or I could install 2-way speakers in the rear. Is this right?
I am really hoping that at least one person can say, "Get brand XYZ, model 123 for the front doors, and brand XYZ, model 234 for the back doors."

everything you said is correct...buy the 8 ohm speakers for the back and 4 ohm for the front...speakers are kinda like diamonds...the more money you pay the more you usually get...just shop in your price range and read the reviews or throw up an idea on here

I went to a stereo shop and had four Powerbass replacement speakers installed in my 06LT. I use the radio to have "background" noise as I drive listening to CDs or radio. Nothing major $200 installed for the replacements. The old sspeakers were breaking up.

Crutchfield recommended Pioneer TS-G1644R (4 ohm speakers) for front and rear. They charge $50 a pair, and give you the adapter brackets and wiring harness. I actually got mine on Amazon.com because I could use American Express points, they were $30 a pair for speakers and $10/pair for adapter brackets. I think I paid $8/pair for wiring harness.

Hello there. I hope you are still on the forum. Could you tell me where you got the adapter rings from? Thank you. Or if anyone knows where these particular adapters are found

Yes I know this is an older post, however I just upgraded door speakers this weekend. Went with Infinity PR6502is 6.5s. They sound amazing. No these are not subs but they do re create every sound in the music field very clean and crisp. And they have extraordinary bass response for a 6.5. Install was simple. Had to re drill mounting points but no biggie. Best 200 bucks Ive spent so far.
