Step by step install------Truckin

For those of you interested, Truckin has a step by step in a 2008 HHR panel. They replaced the head unit, door speakers, and added a sub and amp and wired it all. They replaced the spare tire with the sub and box too. If interested it is in the Oct-Nov issue. Vol 34 No 13. It has the 2007 Silverado bodydropped over 26s

I bought it just to have. This is exactly the type of set-up I want. Right now all my cargo space is being used by my speaker box.

It's too bad that cargo area/spare tire space area wasn't listed. That would really help in trying to do-it-myself.

Anyone got cargo area/spare tire area measurements lying around that you're willing to share?

How many are you trying to fit in there? I have three subs in a box now and I'm thinking of steping down to two just to get them in the tire area. Shouldn't be a problem, I wouldn't think.

Right now I've got a 12" Kicker Solobaric (square sub) in a factory Kicker box, a Rockford Fosgate amp and capacitor in the cargo area.

Ideally I'd love to have the same sort of set up as in the Truckin' Magazine with the sub in a custom-made box sitting in the spare tire well but have the amp and cap sitting on either side of the sub (if that would look good). I want to be able to put the cargo shelf flat on the floor for utility but still protect/hide the stereo equipment. With the big sub box/amp/cap wired into the cargo area I can't get in there at all to take measurements myself without disassembling the stereo set up.

What speakers do you have? Have you (or anyone else) taken measurements in the cargo/spare tire area?

I have three Rockford P2 subs now with the mono amp and component amp mounted to the box front. I may try and get the measurements this weekend and try to build my new box, as I need the room soon too. Avatar says it all!

Very interesting set-up you've got there, Stick. I bet that system pounds! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with measurement-wise if/when you take them.

Are you thinking about building your system into the cargo floor like in the magazine?

Oh it definately pounds! I am planning on building it into the spare tire spot and would like to be able to fit two subs, and both amps in there, just not sure if there is enough air movement for them.
