Unhappy Stereo hardwire questions!!!!

Hey everyone, I am looking for an easy to read wiring diagram for hard wiring an aftermarket radio into my HHR. I have seen some on here but the ones I saw on here are very difficult to read. I saw in one post that SOCal HHR'S said they have an easy to read diagram. Does anyone have that for me?

I was also wondering if this will in any way effect my factory remote start? I know you lose your chimes but I can't have it effect my remote start.

Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

I'm sorry to say that I can't point out a good diagram for you, but there is a good how to on the site. It tells you what wire colors control what part of the stereo. I used it to splice into the factory harness for my amps. I tells what color wire is for power, ground, and all the speakers, as well as all the other junk. Just make sure you have the one for the head unit and not the amp in the back if you have the premier unit. Good luck.

Thank you, After hours of looking I finally have a list of wire colors and connectors that I think will work.

Is there anything else that can get screwed up by this though? I know I will lose chimes and the click click of the turn signals but I really don't want to screw anything else up.

Depends on what you are wiring. Are you changing the whole head unit or adding a amp? I kept the stock head unit but added a pair of amps, speakers, and subs. I was able to keep all the function, chimes, ticker, and steering controls by only cutting the wires I had to. If you are changing the head unit I would suggest going with the wire harness route and spend the money. I know that they may seem expensive, but better that then ruin something! Thanks for finding the wire colors SIRESMERPH, that is what I used.

I am changing the headunit. Have you heard of other issues? I have searched and searched but I have not heard of any other issues. I am ok with losing the chimes and turn signal click but I don't want anything else screwed up.

Anyone out there that has done this and had issues? I am specifically worried about my remote start.

Any more input would be greatly appreciated.
