You will need:

Mounting Bracket
Wiring Harness
Antenna Adapter
WireTap for the fuse box from your 12v source

The stock wiring harness doesnt have one so youll wire it into the harness then tap into a fuse somewhere into the fuse panel.

I had to do that on my brothers 07 silverado and my 06 cobalt ss/sc.

so I would just wire it to the same spot that I wired my radar detector to so it turns on with the key?

Its gonna turn on with the key reguardless. Theres an ignition wire in the harness itself.

Newbie Audio Installation

do you know if with the xsvi-2104 harness if you would lose the rear mirror lights? sorry i am a newbie but i bought a LSD video HU with mp3 and CD and i am excited to install it, except i am going to get a wire harness, just don't know which one for which price. i already have the double din dash kit and antenna adapter. i called around and researched online for the wire harness. the GMOS Lan03 is way expensive but everyone in circuit city/bestbuy and audio installers in the area claim this is the only way to go. I've read a few posts here on aftermarket HU installation, and most expert-people here hardwire. can't do that yet! too scared...i don't mind losing the chime, even the turn-signal sign clicks, but i don't want to lose my dash lights.

what features would be lost between the GMOS lan03 and xsvi-2104? i don't have pioneer nor have onstar on my orange HHR 06 LS.

You will be making a big mistake doing it without the harness. I had my D3 out of my Colorado in 20 minutes when I traded it in on my HHR.

Definately, if you are going to replace the stock head unit, get a harness. How much did you spend on the LCD video unit? Why drop big money on the head unit, then skimp out on the wiring? Remember, your sound will only be as good as your wiring. If you aren't good at spliceing and soldering, then just buy the harness. Oh, and show pics when done.

yeah but what will you lose if you don't get the GMOS lan3 (i don't have onstar nor do i have pioneer). is it okay to just use the xsvi-2104 harness? i dont mind losing the chimes (turn signal click, open door chime, seatbelt warnings) but with the xsvi-2104 harness i was told you can still have the R.A.P. and not have to wire through the fuse for the power. i just don't want to lose my mirror lights or dome lights. so what will i lose with the xsvi-2104 harness?

GMOS lan3 versus xsvi-2104 harness, pro's and con's?

Sorry, but I cannot answer that. I stayed with the stock headunit and changed everything from there on out. All new speakers, two amps, and three subs in the rear. I spliced my wires. I don't have the onstar, but I do/did have the pioneer system. Some say you lose, others say you don't. Just depends on what harness you get. I did however keep all my chimes/buzzers and whatnot.
