Stereo systems

Here's a couple questions for all you stereo nuts like me.
1. How much have you been investing in your total stereo?
2. Do you do your own installs?
3. What brand equipment are you buying?
4. How much are you paying for the kits to install the head unit?
5. How much better is the overall sound quality afterwards?

I stopped by my stereo dealer today and started talking to him about the stereo. He hasn't installed in a HHR yet and started looking around mine for ideas too. He says most of the factory parts are the same as the cobalt (about right as they are on the same platform) and the harnesses should be the same. I have an 07 and if I change the head unit I lose the door chimes, no biggie. Just wondering before I go wrapping up money on a system what everyone else is doing or has any suggestions. Hope this isn't to many questions at once but no need to start a thread for each one I figure. Thanks

1. Too Much
2. I am an installer
3. Kenwood indash double din screen with navigation, Dynaudio components, no rear speakers since rear fill messes with front stage, Alpine PDX2.150 for front, Alpine PDX1.600 for sub. Diamond Audio D6 for sub. so roughly $$2500 range. plus wiring, soundeadener, etc...
4.kit was $12 and i hardwired my deck to factory harness using solder and heatshrink.
5. will be awesome when my Alpine amps arrive tomorrow

*** please note, this is in my camry, wife wont let me mess with the hhr, yet***

1. somewhere around 600 so far
2. usually, done it for years, however on stereos and stuff im worried about messing up i let the pros do it... like the 6x9's, when i figured out what it was gonna take to put them in i took it to the pros
3. pioneer stereo/cd/mp3, crunch 1000 watt amp, forgot the brand 1.2 farat cap, blaupunkt 12 inch subs and 6x9's, blaupunkt 5.25 coming soon, high pass inline caps, iso band pass enclosure. soon i plan to build a fiberglass box and maybe trade up to some new subs, my blaus are 10 years old!
4. um it was like 50 or so installed at C.C.
5. heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh

if you shop around you can find awesome deals i spent around 160 on my amp and 6x9s, i caught my stereo on sale and got it like 50 off, just remember if you arent going to contests, you dont have to go top shelf to get great sound you can use daily.

Here's a couple questions for all you stereo nuts like me.
1. $2700CDN so far... amps, sub, speakers and install. still to come video and probably HU
2. Do you do your own installs? Decided to let a pro take this from day 1, typically I do my own
3. What brand equipment are you buying? Hertz for speakers
4. How much are you paying for the kits to install the head unit? haven't used yet
5. How much better is the overall sound quality afterwards? Speakers alone, 20% better, speakers plus amplification 100%

I'm a little unsure about doing my own install this time. Did them all in the past, just think maybe this time let someone else do it. Currently I have a audiobahn mono amp a8000t and three rockford fosgate p2 subs. Haven't decided on a head unit, door speakers, or a amp to push them yet.
