Stubby antenna question...
Hi
Was looking into buying a 4" stubby antenna that doesn't extend.
Would like some input from members that have installed this type as far reception with it vs the stock OEM one.
What I mean is, if you are listening to a station that's 60 miles away will you still pick it up with a stubby one.
Thanks

it really depends on where you live...
The HHR already has crappy reception, but I put a stubby on and I still get decent local stations...but the further away ones you will lose..and like I said it depends on where you live, your surroundings etc

I have the same stubby as pic above post and will say the range of station pickup does decrease, but overall in town is the same. I used to be able to pickup stations from towns around mine and now they come in pretty fuzzy

I got mine from Stubby Antenna. They have reception ratings on their products. I think mine was well under $20 including shipping. I don't notice any difference in reception quality, but I live in a fairly large metro area and tend to use CDs/mp3s when traveling.

If the wire wrapped around the mast is the correct length, the only thing that matters is the line of sight (I.E. height off of the ground). I don't know if the built in antenna amplifier is variable or not, that might make a difference.
