Umm, no. They may be around the same length, but mounting is entirely different.
Radio ant has a standard threaded hole. The onstar ant is inserted into the mount and given a quarter turn until the locking tab clicks.

Also keep in mind that a lot of people have complained of very bad reception after installed the stubby, so depending on where you live.... YMMV...

This is correct. Noticeable degradation in reception with the stubby, but I use my iPod and my Sirius radio the most, so not a big deal to me. Appearance trumps usefulness in my case.
