Sub install under rear seat

Hey guys, I am new to the site, but I love what I see. It is great to be able to go to a site that gives you access to virtually all the information and opinions you could possibly want for the HHR.

Question. Does anyone know how much room is under the rear seat of the HHR? I am looking at installing two TSSW2541D Alpines 10"subs there if it is possible. These subs only require .6 cubic ft. sealed enclosure, and have a mounting depth of only three inches. Any information and/or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank You in advance,

Joshua

There's basically no usable space under there. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-tutorial-library-21/seat-removal-carpet-install-13261/ shows some pics of the floorpan under the seats. You may be able to fab up some custom brackets to set the seat base higher, but you'd lose the ability to fold the back down (the seat base levers forward as the back is folded), and only be able to carry very short passengers.

Thank you PG318, you probably just saved me about 45 minutes worth of work with those seats. A box for these things won't take up much space anyway.

Thanks again.
