Using your stock door speaker adapters
Just for anyone who wants to use the factory ones instead of buying aftermarket. http://www.amazon.com/gp/r.html?R=3R..._26725410_item
Bought these because all my door speakers went out at once and I've been listening to tweeters for 3 weeks!! These sound pretty clear
I tore my assembly apart and drilled 4 holes then zip tied my new speakers in. Very sturdy and looks good, especially behind the door panel. Also I just used some good buttsplices to wire them in. Hopefully this helps someone not wanting to spend a ton.

I did the same thing on my old 2008. Just cut the cone out of the the factory speaker and screwed a $15 speaker from Zone into the hole. I used screws instead of zip ties, because they were on my workbench and the zip ties would have required me to walk to the other side of the garage.

Going to try cutting out the stock woofer inside the mount method tomorrow. I was not happy with the way I came up with today. I think the stock mounts are sealed for a reason :p
I'm almost tempted to leave these in since they sound pretty decent when you put them on an amplifier. Too bad they are 8ohm

I should have got pics of this but I just did front speakers in my buddy's 2012 Impala, similar speakers.
I cut the stock speaker out of it's mount with a dremel, just the basket was cut out and the ring and mount remained. Pioneer 6.75" speakers screwed right into what was left.
Next time I do this at work I will get pics.
Prob be a while though, damn remote start season!

Yes there is,...

Those are a bit pricy for me. I used some left over half inch thick plastic I used when I built my router table.
this stuff,...

Its easy to work with and since I was using scrap from another project it was what I consider cheap enough. I'd bought two of the 24x48" pieces to build the router table then only used one sheet. the other stood in the corner for several years until I found uses for it little by little.
