Just a question for those of you who mounted amps under the rear cargo rack. Do your amplifiers run hot under there? I would think with no air flow it would get mighty hot, and I know for a fact it would get even hotter out here in AZ. I like the hidden look, but don't think a amp would run efficiently under the rack?

I can't answer if they do, but to combat that problem before it happened, I wired 3 computer fans in on each side. 3 to pull cool air in, 3 to pul it back out. Have had mine set up like that for 1 year and when I took my vacay to AZ in July, I did not have any problems with my amp because of the heat.

Heres mine. I plan to do a beauty panel that will cover the wiring and have a cutout showing just the amps. Not sure if I want a plexi window, probably not.

Hey, does the reverse facing sub (the one you have replaced in the panel) provide more bass since the magnet is faced out?

Sound comes from the air being moved when the cone vibrates back and forth. So the air is moving both in front of the speaker and behind it where the magnet is. Generally the back is sealed in a box which is either ported to let some of the air escape or sealed to create more pressure. In this set up, the front is sealed instead of the back. I have never heard a system like this, but if tahenke likes the way it sounds, then that is all that counts. Plus, it does look funky.

It is quite common to mount the speakers that way.
