Want to get rid of chimes
I just finished updating my system with new speakers, amp, sub. Now the chimes etc are vey loud. I understand these go through the front left. I was just sending the front low level signals to the amp. If I want to lose the chimes can I just use the rear signals? Also, I've heard about hooking up a speaker to the front to keep the chimes but will this work with a low level signal straight to a speaker?
Just wondering how I should wire everything? I've got the wiring diagrams but I'm not sure what I need to do.

You must be using the factory head unit? Sorry to say I don't know how to fix your prob. (below is the only way I know to fix it)
Myself, I replaced my head unit and had to install a Metra GMOS-LAN-03 for the GM Onstar and chimes to work. It controls the volume coming from the chimes in the left door speaker.
I recently added an amp. so I lost my chimes because I ran new speaker wires. I plan to add a very small speaker to the Lan left speaker wire to get the chimes back. Just haven't got around to it yet.
