for that sub, the w6, i would run a 500/1 instead of the 250/1. 500/1 should be right in the correct rms range and the 250 will be under powering that sub big time. I used to work for an authorized jl dealer, i can tell you the 500/1 will be perfect.

The shop I'm talking to said that if I went with the w7, then I'd need the 500, but the w6 would be fine with the 250. There's a good size price difference in the two amps.

Should I drop down to a w6 10"?

I really want to try to keep this reasonable but still be quality.

That's why I posted this to get some feedback.

if i were you i would stay with the w6 12'' and get the 500/1. The price difference is what and extra 250 bucks or so right. the rule of thumb with jl audio amps, especially the 250/1, 500/1, 1000/1, 300/2, 300/4, etc. should be 1 dollar per watt. which would mean 250/1 should be 250, 500/1 should be 500, ect. my tip, ebay is your friend, ask CJ, he got 3 300/2 for 750 not 900. 500/1 on 12w6 FTW!

Just what I told Mike. 2 - 10's in the HHR is perfect.

Best of luck with it!
