Question wire harness

I know if i install one of THESE in my car i would lose the chimes, bells, etc. but the guy at some audio place told me not to put it on cause it might cause problems with my airbags or my computer, is this ture or does he want me to just buy the expensive harness?

Plus i also found this harness Much cheaper than the one on crutchfield that keeps the chimes, bell, and whistles.

If you have Onstar than you will lose the use of that. You will lose your blinker chime. The other thing to think about is without if you mistakenly leave your keys in the car than the chimes wont alert you to it.

The radio circuit has nothing to do with the airbag or computer. Unless of coarse you short something out. Also the Onstar harness your looking at on ebay is not the same one Crutchfield sells which is made by Metra which you can also find cheaper on Amazon and other places I have seen buy going to Google.

Always remember you get what you pay for. The kit Crutchfield sells and specialty audio shops sell that are made by Metra are probably the best the money buys. The cheaper kits use lower gauge wire and are just cheaper made.

New part

If all you are looking for is to keep the Retained accessory power and warning chimes. Check this part out:http://metraonline.com/productsl.aspx?s=LC-GMRC-LAN-03. It's half the cost of their full featured part. If it's an 09, from what I have been told, bluetooth is part of Onstar so my guess is you will lose both. No biggie since most mfg either have it built in or a separate module.

You can get an on star adapter unit that will keep your onstar working and you can keep the chimes and what not (in fact there is a volume on it). If you don't have on star and are installing a navi unit it's nice to get the on star adapter because it has the extra wires you need for the Navi unit as well like break sensor, speed sensor, parking break and what not. The on star adapter will work with or without the on-star unit installed in the car. My brother's HHR doesn't have on-star and I used it simply so I don't have to go hunting the extra wires needed.

Wheen I changed head units the first time I went all out and installed the steering wheel interface and the correct LAN harness. I changed head units and tried one of the cheaper harnesses. Not worth it. Worth the extra cash to keep it working right.
