XM Installation

I have a 2006 1LT that I have had for a few months now. I am looking at putting a XM SkyFi2 into my HHR. What are the best places to mount and install? I have been looking but cannot find anything. Thank you for your help.

Why not just use the Terk XMDirect system? If you have a "CAT" button on the stock radio it should just be a plug-and-play setup.

How much do one of these cost? How hard is the install? I work at Best Buy so I'll have to see if we sell it.

May be a bit of subject but my car came with the factory XM and 3 month trial of service. Personally I think XM is great but having it hard mounted in the vehicle means that if I want another unit in the house or at work then I have to pay a monthly service charge for each additional device. You can get away with a single monthly charge by having a portable unit that plugs into multiple docking stations wherever you happen to want to listen...enjoy your XM!!

I liked XM so much I bought 2 portable units - 1 for the house and 1 for the office.

The 2nd and 3rd radios are at a reduced subscription price.

I tried installing the SkyFi into my HHR, but couldn't get it to come out looking good. I bought a suction cup mount but cannot find a place to mount. What are some ideas to mount? I want a relatively clean looking install.

FYI, with your paid subscription you can also have free internet access to xmradio

I get it with my GM trial as well...can't stream at work though so I bought a portable...in a couple of months I'll have to decide if I want to use the factory one and pay the extra $$ or use my portable in the car...I certainly like the convenience of the factory XM

We liked the xm2go my wife gave me for Christmas so much that we got an extra unit and xm in both our HHR's. Once you pay for the first you get each additional at a cheaper rate.

Thing I like about the xm2go is that it came with all the docking stations you need, one for the car and one for the home. I've even got a set of headphone with a built in antenna so i can listen while mowing the grass or going for a walk!

But to the topic at hand...........
I don't know that you'll be able to find a spot where it looks good, maybe one that doesn't look too bad should be your goal.

I'm picking up my HHR today. I didn't get the factory installed XM because i have a Skifi plug and play. Where do you think is the best place to mount the unit, roof antena, and run the cables from the ant to the cradle? I would like to know how some of you did it and have the wires hidden
