There was a promotion (at least here in NY) where they are giving 2 weeks free (started the 18th). Then if you want it for 5 months its $20 and the "extra" fee is waived. I might do it if they except a money order, but not if they only want a credit card.

Let us know what they say. I won't give them a credit card number. It just isn't worth the hassle later on. I would prefer them to bill me and if I don't pay, they can cut it off. If they will take a money order or maybe even a check then I will do it. If not then when the free preview is over then so is my XM.

I'll let you know one way or another.

Just got off the phone with XM (free 2 weeks was up today). Anyone trying to save money but want to give themselves a present for 5 months-you can receive a bill for the 5 months (or go the full 12 months) without using your credit card. They will take check or Postal Money Order. 5 month is $20 with taxes & fees just under $26. I may do it & have till 12/25 to decide.

I used a credit card to setup the 6 mo./$30 subscription last year. Then called them 2 or 3 days before it was to expire and roll-over into a subscription at the "regular" rate of ~$15/mo., and cancelled it. They did it without any problem. I watched my credit card status on-line - and nope, they did not put any more charges on it. So cancelling wasn't a problem. :)
I'll be renewing it this week for an additional 6 mos at their special rate of $5/mo. - that is in canada tho'.
