Sounds like you have a rotor that needs to be turned.

By turning the rotor, do you mean swap them from left side to the right side? It's that safe?

First turning rotors, is not swapping sides (rotating). It is getting them machinced down to fix warped (uneven wear). Auto parts stores, and brake places have machines that turn rotors.

The general discussions is that GM uses cheap rotors that warped easily, and warped, uneven rotors will result in the shaking in braking. There has not been a re-call or admittance by GM, some dealerships may cover under warranty, but not gauranteed.

I had the problem in the Mtns, I believe once the rotors must of built up a good amount of heat. In general, normal driving here, don't have the problem. I did not have dealership, look at mine. I am putting on a lot of miles and have modified the vehicle, (did not want to hear all the excusses from dealership), my plan is to up-grade soon.

Several have up-graded to a better, after-market rotors, that are available for HHR's.

Hope this helps!!
Mark

Best thing to do is get aftermarket rotors and pads. I've had mine turned 3 times now. and had 4 different pad swaps. eather they warp or they make that bad noise that some barkes do....lol
The shop foreman told me to get aftermarket rotors and pads as the stock GM ones are crap.
