Question Bump stops

Ive ordered the Eibach pro springs and wanted to know if you need to cut bump stops or leave them alone. Any input on this?

This is a quote from Jeff (a supporting vendor) on Goldlines. Not sure if this would go for all brands. Shoot him a PM. He is generally quick to respond.

Modern foam type bump stops are designed to engage early and allow for a fair amount of travel, but "riding the bumpstops" will overtax them and cause premature breakdown. My thought is that it's a good idea to trim some off even with the leveling springs, but you can definitely install them without trimming and see how it rides.

The leveling springs instructions say to cut off 1 inch, but from the picture of the stops, I do not see how this is possible for the rear. I will see better when I actually take mine out and see them in person.

I installed Eibach Pro Springs on one of my "other" retro vehicles and very pleased with the results.

I installed the GoldLine Leveling Springs to my HHR. Also very pleased!!!

In both cases, I trimmed about 3/4 to 1 inch off the bump stops on both vehicles. As long as you leave some of the bump stops, you should have no problem. I figured I was better safe than sorry. Hated to have to go back and trim them later if I was unhappy with the ride.

Yep... it's possible... the bump stops on mine were almost 2 inches of rubber material. Trimmed off an inch and put them back in the new springs.
