Change Strut Mounts?

I have a bunch of stuff I bought from Rock Auto sitting in my shop waiting to be installed on my 2006 1LT. One of them is a set of KYB struts. Before I start the job, should I order a set of strut mounts from Rock auto ($24 each for KYB brand) and just replace them also? Do the strut mounts typically go bad?

Yes, you need new mounts. If you are trying to chase noises get new everything including the seats.

BTW, you do not have to start a new thread to add to your own thread. Just "edit" your post or reply to your thread.

What I found with my HHR (06' 2LT) was that a lot of the noise issue from my car was that 1) The back breaks loosened up, forcing the vast majority of stopping to be stressed onto the front breaks 2) This wore down the front breaks and rotters 3) This fatigued the strut mounts and had to be replaced.

So, replace the strut mounts and make sure those back breaks and tightened up and doing their share of the work to make help the car perform properly.
