Hub assembly vs. Wheel bearing

The axle nut that is used on the HHR has been used on many GM cars over the years, you can get it at parts stores for around $5.00 bucks at O'Reilly's. It is the same nut as the 82-05 Cavalier/SunBird axle nut. MTM part#05170 and Dorman Part#615-089. Don't go to the dealer or Advanced, the prices are way jacked up.

The plus is the hub assembly is everything. I replaced mine 8 months ago. Recvently, there were warning lights telling me to service traction, EBV, etc. It turns out there is a gererated signal that comes off each wheel to tell the CPU that you are slipping. The generator ring was bad. The hub fixed all. Weeee!. Hope it lasts for a while.

Guys, I replaced the wheel bearing assembly and it did solve the Christmas tree (lights everywhere) I had going on.
I did end up buying the correct socket for the axle nut, and it is 35mm, NOT 36mm! I was borrowing a set of metric deep well sockets and the standard 35mm fits, but is a real bear to get the nut out of the socket as it fits VERY tight. I bought the "axle nut socket" in 35mm and it has reliefs cut at the points (for lack of better explanation) and is MUCH easier to get the nut out of.
