lowering...

ok my question about the cobalt ss springs have been answered so i need some more info about lowering. which has better performance and ride height...goldline or eibach? would the dealer give me sh*t for using an aftermarket part even though the car is still under warranty? and finally, would 18" rims fit in the wheel wells without any trouble(s) with the lowered suspension? thanks in advance

I went with the Eibach Pro-Kit springs. They aren't as low as goldlines (1.6" as opposed to 2.0") but plenty low enough without losing too much drivability. Eibach has Sport-Line made for the Cobalt but are not recommended for the HHR because the spring rate is too low for the heavier HHR. I like my Pro-Kit!

Wheels I went with Euromax 612's 18x7.5 with the stock 42mm offset. This is perfect and I have had no issues with rubbing or anything else. They fill out the wheel well's fine too.

The dealer would have to prove that any mod you do caused a failure to void the warranty on something. My logic was, if Chevy is going to offer 18" wheels as an option they must be ok to use on the HHR.

Just depends on how much you want to lower. I got the Goldlines and I'm happy with them. Although I would like to be about 1'' lower.

Here's a good comparison of stock and Goldlines:

::oh boy, pix whoring time::

Here's my HHR on the Cobalt SS/SC 18's with the Gen1 Gold lines (the most aggressive drop available for the HHR without using an airride) So 18's will fit on a 1" drop...

Same drop but with 20's.

I have Eibach springs on my 07 with 20'' wheels. Aany lower and the wheels would rub on the strut bottoms. It looks good but, rides real firm. I bought the car lowered that way with the 20" s on it.

DAMN I'm jealous there I like em both but somehow it does look better with the 18's on it.

Dory is riding on 2nd gen GLs, and the ride is only a bit stiffer than stock.

18s? Bet you meant 17s. The only stock 18s that are available are for the new SS.
