I went with the Eibach Pro-Kit springs. They aren't as low as goldlines (1.6" as opposed to 2.0") but plenty low enough without losing too much drivability. Eibach has Sport-Line made for the Cobalt but are not recommended for the HHR because the spring rate is too low for the heavier HHR. I like my Pro-Kit!
Wheels I went with Euromax 612's 18x7.5 with the stock 42mm offset. This is perfect and I have had no issues with rubbing or anything else. They fill out the wheel well's fine too.
The dealer would have to prove that any mod you do caused a failure to void the warranty on something. My logic was, if Chevy is going to offer 18" wheels as an option they must be ok to use on the HHR.

i wonder why no one else reccomends the Canuck Motorsports springs? KajunHHR has had them for awhile and for $166 shipped for all four springs this is not a bad deal. he just sent me some pics. ebay says they are 1.5" all the way around and KajunHHR runs 20's
