Lowering with GM parts

First off HELLO. I finally got on this board ,so happy. Been working on my HHR for a month now. For those of you wanting to lower your HHR. I'm in the process of lowering my LT with off the shelf parts. I got the back down tonight. Dropped 1 1/8 inch. Just as I figured. Front should drop 1 inch. I'm sure your wondering how I did this. Well here's your answer. COBALT SS springs. Form dealer. Cost $38 each. Lots cheaper than aftermarket. I work in a parts store and have a great relationship with my dealer. I even have access to the dealership computer. They let me just walk all over the shop and even use the shop to work in at times. Anyhow if you need part numbers I have them. Front will be done tommorrow I'll report if my figures are correct.

I'm guessing a bunch would want these part numbers!

Got a couple questions; is this a straight switch and what about the greater weight of the HHR?

BTW, welcome to another from Missouri! Be sure to check out the Mid-Central region threads, www.stlhhrs.com. There is also a big HHR event in Branson next month, 2008 HHRitage Nationals.

Great to be here. I'll have to and try to remember the Branson deal. I always go to the Midnight cruise in Aug. Usually have a Mustang, but fuel has slowed down the fast car stuff. Front spring is 21994335 rear is 10390024 Here's how I figured this out. Looked up eibach springs at work for an HHR. Same part # for Cobalt SS. SS lowers the front 0 Lowers the rear .5 HHR lowers the front 1 inch lowers the rear 1.5 So put stock SS springs in HHR and there you have it. Same chassis. And the eibach springs are $280 as I stated the GM springs where $38 that's alot cheaper for basically the same thing with factory springs. I make it a point to try and use oem parts. The dealer I have lets me research alot. On a off note the had no idea that changing th power window swith in my pass. door got me keyless intry on my WT truck. Research can pay off if you dig enough. I'm working on steering wheel controls for the HHR. Don't have them for the radio, but I will. And it will be oem.

People have been using those springs to lower there non ss/sc cobalts for a long time. They don't drop as much as aftermarket lowering springs though.

You guys should visit css more often. There is constantly a set of these springs for sale, usually around $100.

So will the cobalt ss shocks (if the cobalt ss uses different shocks/struts then non-ss cobalts) also fit on the hhr?

Caution guys! The 10390024 rear springs are the Cobalt SS springs for 05-07.The 08 cars Cobalt SS cars use #25821162.Why not just use the 08 HHR SS springs all the way around? They'll fit and work and there's no question about correct rates for the HHR.
