Rear spring insulator.

Rear spring insulator.
I've been having a squeaking noise from the rear of my 2008 HHR. I suspected the suspension was the source of the noise. After looking at the rear coil spring upper insulator thatwas cracked, soft and looked to be 10 years old, I think I've found the culprit.
The question is, where to get a durable replacement? I would rather find something more substantial than the factory part. I have searched here and elsewhere, but could not find any replacement.
Anyone else replace theirs ? And where did you purchase the part?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I looked on GM Parts Direct, and they show a rear spring bumper for the top of the spring.

This is for the SS. They do not list one for the LS or LT. Would this work and is it polyuerathane for the SS?

I use GMPD too..
Have you tried: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/catalog.php
They sell GM oem parts & at times are cheaper priced than GMPD
They may have the correct part for your need..

I just swapped out my springs today so had these pieces off and in my hands. The upper part is two pieces, there is a hard purple plastic piece and an "insulator" made of what looks like foam. (once was white but now dirty brown color..... "soft and looks 10 years old") Which piece is split or are you thinking the separation between those two is the split?
If the purple piece is fine you could make the other bit out of a HD rubber mud flap for a truck. Or, maybe, this isn't the source of your noise.........

EDIT: You can see very clearly in the fifth photo in this post..... https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...04&postcount=7
The purple piece is the hard plastic.... that brown piece is like a rubbery/foam washer........ You can even see where the old springs were as it's a white color. Mine looked just like that.

Only reason I brought it up was I was wondering if that was the split the OP saw and his noise is coming from elsewhere........ Mine doesn't make any noises and looks like that photo which I would say is "normal". (other photos show the same)
