Warren Brown has covered the car industry for The Washington Post since 1982.
"Vienna, Va.: Warren, regarding brake issues on the HHR, what did GM do to correct the problem?"
"Warren Brown: The Chevrolet HHR, which shares the same platform as the compact Chevy Cobalt car, now gets a thumbs up from most consumer rating services. I assume that means those services, including CR, now believe that GM has addressed what was perceived as a "brake problem" in the initial runs of those vehicles. GM contends that it had no systemic problem, which leads me to believe that whatever was wrong was limited to specific production lots."
