Replace Front Brakes 06 LT Best Options?

I've been reading over brake threads here and I see people talking a lot about SS Brembos, rear disc conversions ect ect.
What I want is better/bigger calipers and rotors up front, is this possible and what brands are available? I can find nothing Brembo or any other brand for big brakes for the HHR LT.
I plan to install 18" rubber and new rims all the way around at time of brake job.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Also, any upgrades I can make to rear drum brakes? Not interested in the rear disc conversion, just basic upgrades.

Thanks.

Ya Sumitt has nothing of the sort.

I found these, anyone know if this would work on the HHR LTs? They were closed so I couldn't ask them if they knew. I suppose much of this may be able to be found on the cobalt site but I'm hoping to hear something here.

This is noted in the ad

"These are factory LNF brake parts so using them on prior models may require shims or larger wheels to clear the calipers.
We do not have any type of list of what vehicles or wheels this kit will fit, we will update this as time goes on."
So I guess they can't help with compatibility question.

That is the complete Brembo kit. If you're going to use 18" rims, you won't need any spacers.
Only thing you may need extra would be the caliper mounting brackets. Not sure which ones match up with the Brembos. But I do recall there are 2-3 different brackets for the HHR. Depends on year/brake combo.
Someone who has done the Brembo swap should be able to confirm which brackets are needed.

Silverstreet......

You might want to do a search for a "how-to" Solman did on his 2006. It was a really clean install of the regular SS rotors and pads. Didn't seem expensive and was relatively easy to do. Nice upgrade.

SilverStreet,

I have a 2006 2LT which I put on the Brembo calipers, super easy if you can find the calipers, there is no bracket with the Brembos just the caliper, you can buy great Raybestes Rotors from rockauto for like 36 bucks each. I found a set of calipers and had them shipped for like a $100 bucks, so essentially I put on a Brembo big brake kit for just the cost of the brembo calipers which were $100 plus I have the 17 inch factory wheels which I needed a spacer at summit for like 6 bucks each. Super easy and you can use factory brake pads and rotors which are available and cheap to buy. I will bump my thread and take a look.

At 92,000 miles I just had my shop change rotors and discs on the front as well as rear drums and shoes with stock equivelents. I never had any brake issues with my HHR before or since.

Here's what I did. Brembo's would be nicer, but this was more cost effective for me. If you want Brembo's, From that I hear is they will bolt in place of the caliper brackets. Now the rear, something different.

I havent checked in awhile but, somewhere along the way those stock brembos will have to be rebuilt, so i got to digging around online at the parts stores looking for replacement calipers figgering they would be cheaper then new ones..at the time there were no physical parts available, but, there were spaces for them for future stocking...in other words they were listed but no part numbers or pics...so..kep an eye on this as they may show up in the future as rebuilt units...
