Do you spray it on your tires also for a nice shine?

I never said that I did it, or would do it, I heard it on another forum. If I was gonna do anything, I would take the pads out and hit them with some sandpaper, maybe the rotors too.

Still squeakin'...I have 9k on my '07 now, and the rear drums still squeak. EVERYTIME light pedal is applied, they squeak. So every stop I make, they squeak, which is getting really old. I'm sure it's the shoes - they need a softer material, perhaps all organic and no metallic.

I've had it into the dealer and they kept it for a week, saying they were waiting on a "newly designed" part from GM. They gave me my car back, saying they would call me when the part came in. That was 2 months ago. I have been too busy at work to follow-up on it, but I haven't heard anyone here talk about this "new" part for the drum brakes.

After Christmas, I plan to take it back again, and ask that they try a different shoe, or something.

During my 5 hour ride last Monday in the commute from hell(snowstorm) my brake were squeaking up a storm...and I'm not talking about a little squeal...I'm talking "OMG roll up the windows or my ears will bleed" squeal. Only seems to do it when there is a bit of moisture and there was a lot of that on Monday.....really I have never had a set of brakes squeak on me like that

Any other remedies? I gotta say it was almost embarrassing...5 mph chugs about 4 feet then SQUEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for about 17 miles over 4 hours

Will dealer do anything? Sounds like from info here they will just shrug...hard to tell if it was from front or rear...just loud

WD-40 and braking systems do not like each other. Definently do not do this. Brake squeak can be caused by many things. Most of the time brake squeak is caused by the vibration of the pads and or shoes while they are being applied. Cold brakes and high humidity also have an effect on brake noise. There are products such as "Brake Quiet" that can be applied to help eliminate the noise. Two or three aggressive stops will also help to clean off the glaze left by semi-metallic pads. Glazing occurs during light braking, such as during stop and go traffic or by granny driving. Usually aggressive stopping, like when coming down a highway off ramp, will fix you up. Most GM techs know the secrets to making pads or shoes quit squeaking but do to driving habits the noises may come back. FYI GM states in the owners manual that intermittent brake squeal is normal.

My car had noisy brakes until about 30,000 miles. Then they quit being noisy.
